Leading the Way in Climate-Positive Flooring
At Safety Flooring, sustainability is embedded in every stage of our product development. Our Comcork range is engineered to deliver long-lasting performance while supporting healthier, more responsible building outcomes. With Global GreenTag Level C Certification and a carefully assessed carbon footprint, Comcork represents a strong step forward for environmentally conscious flooring specification.
Understanding Comcork’s Carbon Footprint
Under the Australian NGER (National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting) scheme, Comcork’s cradle-to-gate carbon footprint is calculated at 1.0–1.6 kg CO₂-e per kilogram.
A significant contributor to the reduced footprint of Comcork is the use of natural cork granules, which are inherently carbon‑negative thanks to the cork oak tree’s ability to capture and store carbon throughout its lifecycle. This incorporation of cork helps substantially lower the overall emissions profile of the product.
How Comcork Minimises Environmental Impact
Comcork achieves a comparatively low carbon footprint through:
- Material technologies designed for durability and longevity, reducing replacement frequency
- Use of natural cork, a renewable material with its own carbon sequestration benefits
- A controlled cradle-to-gate lifecycle that enables transparent, verifiable environmental assessment
- Efficient manufacturing processes that minimise energy use and emissions
These factors work together to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the flooring compared to conventional alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
A unique combination of cork (70% by volume) and rubber.
An extensive range of 4 different flooring profiles in 33 colours.
Our sheet size is 1800mmx900mm by either 2.5mm, 3.2mm or 4.5mm thick. We also produce tiles 440mmx440mm or 295mmx295mm.
Walk Easy flooring is available in three standard thicknesses: 2.5mm, 3.2mm, and 4.5mm. Both the 2.5mm and 3.2mm options are equally durable, so the choice between them often comes down to personal preference and the specific feel you want underfoot. For areas requiring additional acoustic properties or impact resistance—such as gym floors—the 4.5mm thickness is typically recommended, providing extra cushioning and sound absorption.
Comcork flooring is impervious and can be used externally. Always check slip requirements when selecting the right profile.
